Design Post

Here is a post regarding different aspects of design. The machine below is similar to one we have at work except its executed differently and its open source and at a price people can afford. Bre Pettis along with friends Zach Hoeken Smith and Adam Mayer have started a new company, MakerBot Industries, “to bring rapid prototyping and 3D Printing to the masses.”

Next up is a sweet trailer built for the minicooper.Republic of Fritz Hansen, the Copenhagen based premium furniture brand known for its minimalist and functional design, has spared no details when it came to designing the interior of the MINI Cooper S Clubman and Airstream trailer.

Then there, of course, are well designed dumbells for the fancy gym enthusiast. these are from designers Philippe Starck and Henriette Melchiorsen.

And ive never posted a film this length but this movie is pretty cool looking and worth checking out if you are geeking out and got half hour to kill.“The Mysterious Geographic Explorations of Jasper Morello” (2005) is fantastic short film by Anthony Lucas created using silhouette animation.Set in a world of iron airships, this silhouette animation tells the story of Jasper Morello, a disgraced aerial navigator who flees his plague-ridden home hoping to redeem himself. His expedition leads him to an island which is home to a monster that may hold the cure for the Plague. The journey back is filled with dangers but, Jasper soon discovers that the greatest horror of all lies within man himself.

dogs by Maarten Wetsema

I'm glad that artists are looking at our pets and companions as art....at behavioral observers of our human condition. these creatures represent who and what we are...to a degree but i am glad that they are being acknowledged.

David Byrne's Bike racks

These are great and its a great way of getting people to bike around more. Cbus should hire a local artist to do something similar to this around town to promote this type of transportation.

Gallery 83

We went to gallery hop last night which was fun and the weather was great. We parked on 1st ave and were walking up to high street when i nice young man asked us if we wanted to check out an independantly run gallery, we said sure and off we went.
Its located on 83 west 1st st. and its in the basement of a house. The guy showing around us was named Geoff and was really friendly. The gallery was small but had a little bit of everything in it ranging from oils to photography to ink drawings. Apparently they are going to run exhibits showcasing local and up and coming artists every month for gallery hop. check it out and support local art.

Stephen Powell at Hawk Gallery

We went to the opening of Stephen Powells new exhibit at Hawk Gallery last night called "Zoned Out". He hails from Alabama and is a great colorist and glass blower. His work is really organic and dynamic and it looks like its going to get up and walk away. The exhibit was well placed and lit and it worked well within the walls of the gallery. He also seems to have sense of humor ,which wins points in my book, by the names of his pieces.

.

DeadMau5

He hails from ontario and is a force in the progressive house scene. Next week he will be at BOMA, i'm going to try to go cuz itll be a sweet show.
the song/vid is long but its good to listen to and do work to. The tune is a great example of the genre and a beautiful track, enjoy.

He has a hard geeked out tech style that is fun. peep out the short vid.techjio is going places fo sho. proper.
